There is an opening in the Engineering Department for a Project Architect. The following partial job description explains this full-time Monday through Friday, position located at the West Des Moines Corporate Office.

Brief description of job duties:

Responsible for the overall development and implementation of a specific architectural project. In charge of coordinating a team effort to complete a project promptly and successfully, from beginning to end.

Primary responsibilities and frequency:

- Work with store planning team to develop floor plans and building elevations.
- Manage design team consisting of in house technicians and consultants during construction document phase.
- Review production drawings and specifications.
- Work with the construction team consisting of in house job captains and our subsidiary, Hy-Vee Construction, throughout the construction phase.
- Assumes the responsibility of project architect to organize, manage and maintain multiple projects in various phases of design and construction.
- Research and implement design solutions for full range of facilities issues, both on new construction and significant renovations.
- Ensures the team is working effectively and keeping to schedule and budget.
- Attends company and departmental meetings.

Equipment used to perform job:

PC with Microsoft Office programs, AutoCAD, printer, copy machine.

Education/experience required to perform job:

Applicant must have valid Architecture license and 5 – 10 years of experience as a Project Architect with experience working on all phases of a project from design through construction.

- Must have minimum of 3-5(+) years NYC experience designing & leading small to large/complex buildings.
- Must have a Bachelor's of Architecture.
- Must be a very organized leader with excellent communication skills.
- Confident enough to be the liaison between office, clients, contractors and consultants.
- Must have experience with CD's, building & facade design.
- Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Knowledge of NYC zoning and building code.
- Must be mastered in AutoCAD Architecture [v.2014 a plus].
- Experience with residential and mixed-use buildings a plus.
- Strong detailing is a plus.
- Job Lead / Captain, managing projects from concept to finish is a huge plus.
- Strong renderers will be considered as well.
