This local authority Senior Urban Designer on a contract basis To research, prepare and draft planning guidance on urban design to improve the quality of the City’s environment and contribute to sustainable development and contribute to other work of the Urban Design and Conservation Team and other work of the Environment Department.

Main roles and responsibilities

1. To carry out research into a range of urban design topics associated with the work of the Team.
2. To lead projects for:
(a) the development of area based planning policy and frameworks, including the preparation of drawings and reports;
(b) the preparation of planning and design briefs on development sites within the city;
(c) the preparation and review of design codes.
3. To assist and where appropriate lead in the preparation of masterplans and Supplementary Planning Documents.
4. To provide advice to the Development Control Teams at the City on the urban design implications of planning proposals and/or planning applications.
5. To contribute urban design expertise to the preparation of the Local Plan or Local Development Frameworks of the City.
6. To assist and where appropriate lead in the public consultation associated with the Team’s work programme and analyse and report on the results of consultations.
7. To participate in multi disciplinary teams on a variety of Team, Departmental and Corporate projects; and to contribute to the development and implementation of the Team and Departmental work programme.

You should match the following criteria:

- Relevant post qualification experience of practical work on urban design related projects.
- Project management.
- Solid understanding of planning and urban design theory and practice.
- Strong appreciation of the importance of achieving high quality in the built environment.
- Good hand drawing and graphic skills; knowledge of computer based graphics packages.
- Degree in, architecture, landscape architecture, planning or other relevant discipline.
- Urban design qualification.

New York City based interior design firm is seeking an interior designer with STRONG drafting skills. Must be a team player, feel comfortable speaking with sales reps and marketing team. Will be putting together interior design and construction documents for large high-rise buildings, including residential lobbies, amenity areas, bathrooms and kitchens. As well as, selecting and sourcing materials, fixtures and appliances. This position has a big potential for growth within the interior design department.

Desired Skill Set (2-3 years experience)

- Strong background in autocad; understanding x-refs and layers.
- A keen sense of interior millwork and stone detailing as it relates to design as well as functionality.
- Basic understanding of creating a set of construction drawings.
- Basic understanding of Demolition Plans is a big plus.
- Good sense of colors, finishes and materials for use in interior design projects.
- Basic skills in photoshop, sketch up + V-RA, illustrator, inDesign, Adobe and Microsoft software.
