With some supervision from the Manager of Architecture, assist in the development of the design work; lead in the production of technical drawings and specifications; coordinate the related work of the other disciplines; and assume in-house construction administration duties on projects of moderate size and complexity.
Primary responsibilities:
- Ability to manage midsize projects. Mentor staff.
- Establish the factual parameters of the design work (e.g., code, site restrictions, budget and schedule restraints, etc.); identify building systems options and related performance and cost criteria; and assist in the presentation of design documents.
- Formulate the project work plan based on an approved scope of work. Lead the execution of the various tasks identified therein. Assume primary responsibility for the daily activities of the architectural project team and the progress of the work and for the technical quality of the Construction Documents (drawings and specifications).
- Assist the Project Manager in adhering to the project schedule and budget; and in identifying changes to the scope of the work, and related repercussions on project schedule and budget. Advise the Manager of Architecture of changes in the project workload.
- Initiate and orchestrate the work of the entire project team (the various engineering and interiors disciplines, and other consultants), and facilitate the timely exchange of information between all project team members; assume responsibility for the coordination of all disciplines, documents, and for insuring that quality control procedures are enforced.
- Perform all in-house construction administration duties: respond to RFI’s, review and approve shop drawings, issue bulletins, etc.; assist in providing field-representation services (at the request of the Manager of Architecture).
- Help maintain and improve office architectural standards, details and production tools.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Required education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering; Master’s preferred.
- 10+ years related architecture experience.
- NCARB and LEED required.
- Registered Architect.
Additional skills:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microstation, Revit, Photoshop Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer.

You will be working an on large commercial, mixed use developments – new build & refurb using Vectorworks. The successful architect will need to lead from the front and be able to work in Vectorworks and have excellent design as well as technical knowledge. Working across all RIBA stages you will need to show design flair with previous job running experience. The architect will need to be a confident user of Vectorworks. Past experience working for a respected design studio would be advantageous!
- Working knowledge of CAD systems, Vectorworks is preferred with Sketchup / Indesign very advantageous.
- Commercial/new build/mixed use project/sector experience.
- Working knowledge of UK Building Systems, Regulations and construction types.
- The successful architect will need to lead from the front and be able to work in Vectorworks and have excellent design as well as technical knowledge.
- Past experience working for a respected design studio would be advantageous.
- Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills, be highly computer literate (Vectorworks), self-motivated, a clear thinker, alongside a strong team player who can work in a multi-disciplinary team.
