Our growing 40 person firm is an ideal fit for hard-working, top-notch designers who want more design freedom and/or a higher quality work environment, and who want to be part of our expansion into a broader range of project types, including new construction.

Responsibilities:

Designing, drafting, and detailing from schematic design through design development and construction document phases.

Qualifications:

- Experience and ability to produce detailed and coordinated construction documents.
- Comfort with multi-tasking and collaboration within a context of fast-paced projects.
- Work examples that demonstrate, in addition to technical excellence, a strong design sensibility.
- Knowledge of architectural practice and construction in general.
- Professional architectural degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 consecutive years’ relevant experience (post-grad).
- AutoCAD proficiency and adobe creative suite a must, 3D (Sketchup) proficiency a plus.
- Familiarity with NYC building codes.
- Currently living in NY area, available to start within 3 weeks of interview.
- Excellent English language communication skills.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employee sponsorship.

Interior Designer

RD Jones & Associates, a fast-paced and energetic interior design and architecture firm with an extensive portfolio of luxury multi-family and boutique hotels, is expanding their DC office and looking to build a dynamic creative team. They are looking for strong interior designers (3-5+ years of professional experience) who will work closely with the principals, project managers, and architects to assist in developing some of the most exciting new-build multi-family projects happening in the industry.

The Interior Designer has the ability to impact the design quality for the project(s). The interior team will work directly with the creative director to conceptualize the project as a whole, set the initial design direction and make critical aesthetic decisions throughout the project. The Interior Designer will be responsible for working with the senior design staff to select all interior finishes and furnishings for the project, documenting the specifications, and developing all custom FF&E for the project. In addition, the Interior Designer will coordinate with the architects on the development of the technical design and preparation of architectural design and construction documents for the project. This includes integrating input from the client, principals & project managers to ensure the success of the project.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree from a 4-year Interior Design program or equivalent required.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in hospitality, multi-family design or senior living.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to demonstrate specific experience on relevant projects.

- Possesses excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and graphic communication skills. Must be able to express strategic concepts analytically and graphically.

- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate and work others under pressure.
- Applicant must demonstrate computer skills, including proficiency with AutoCAD, Sketch Up, Adobe Suite, and Microsoft Programs on a PC platform. Revit experience a plus.
- Proficient with other data management software such as Excel and Project a plus.
- Excellent knowledge of FF&E resources and industry standards for specification writing.
- Reviews and understands with proficiency detailed construction documents including floor plans, elevations and sections, electrical details, finish schedules, furniture floor plans, FF&E specifications, finish boards, materials and finishes to determine compliance in quality, design, and codes.
- Understands the components of construction drawings and specifications from AOR and other consultants and reviews documentation to ensure that elements are coordinated within RD Jones & Associates documents, as necessary.
- Space planning and hand-sketching skills and excellent presentation skills.
- Conceptual design and interior architecture through 3-D massing conceptualization and space planning and the ability to format a presentation that clearly communicates the design.
- Experience in hospitality and/or multi-family design and/or senior living a plus.

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for assisting with the creation of the design narrative and design graphics for concept presentation materials.
- Works in tandem with Senior Interior Designer and/or Project Manager to space plan and design the interior architectural envelope, preparing project production design and drawings using computer assisted design software.
- Responsible for internal presentation of project design materials to senior leadership.
- Assists in quality control reviews for projects to confirm documents are meeting RD Jones & Associates, client, and operator’s standards.
- Interior Designer is responsible for assistance of review and accuracy of project specifications prior to issuance to AOR, client and/or operator.
- Closely coordinates with project team, and provides documentation to them, as necessary, to alert them of elements needing their coordination and/or documentation.
- Prepares task lists and internal project schedules, prioritize and concurrently service multiple projects.
