Opportunity for Architect or Part II Assistant with Experience.

Geoff Brown Studio is a small architectural practice with a pleasant office located between Bermondsey and Canada Water next to Southwark Park.

We have a portfolio of office and high-end residential refurbishment projects in Mayfair and have an opportunity for an enthusiastic architect or capable Part II assistant with experience.

The director has a long track record of delivering successful commercial projects in Central London, and we pride ourselves on providing our clients with an excellent service through all stages of the design and delivery process.

There is an opportunity for the right candidate to take responsibility for selected projects under the guidance of the director.

Essential requirements for all candidates:

- Excellent AutoCAD 2-D skills.
- Competent use of Sketchup.
- Fluent spoken and written English.
- Experience of interior construction detailing.
- Enthusiasm and dedication to excellence throughout design and technical documentation.
- Minimum 2 years relevant post Part II experience with at least 1 year in UK.

We are currently looking for a Project Architect to join our firm. As a Project Architect, you will interpret, organize and execute the conceptual design of a project utilizing creativity, foresight and judgment to meet project requirements and objectives through project completion. To be considered for this position, candidates must provide resume and work samples or a website link to their work.

Responsibilities:

- Take the lead in drafting/drawing on project(s) without supervision and lead support staff.
- Ensure the overall design intent of the project and monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration, making sure the design idea is consistent and properly executed.
- Technical resolution and coordination for a defined portion of a project.
- Check completed reports, plans, estimates and calculations for accuracy.
- Involved with specification set-up and drawing coordination, research and appropriate use of FD Standards.
- Communicate with other disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure incorporation of all information into project requirements and provide support as necessary.
- Communicate with client representative as necessary to verify design requirements and specifications, participate in the review process and deliver final product.
- Participate in review of project costs and budgets and adhere to schedule.

Required skills:

- Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and manufacturer-supplier appropriateness.
- Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
- Advanced knowledge of QA/QC process.
- Proven ability to prioritize in order to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients.
- Proficiency in the basic technical skills including the following computer skills:

- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/Architectural Desktop.
- Knowledge of Revit preferred.
- Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign graphic software.

Required experience:

- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent and 5 plus years architecture and/or design experience.
- Licensed Architect with current registration preferred.
