Worthgroup Architects & Designers is seeking a Senior-Level Architect (VP or Director Level) to direct the operations of the firm’s Reno, Nevada office. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years experience as a Senior Project Executive as well as provide exceptional management and leadership capabilities.

The new leader of Worthgroup’s Reno office will be able to contribute on a significant level to the firm’s aggressive growth and diversification goals, while being immediately able to lead complex high-end hospitality, entertainment, gaming and mixed-use projects throughout the U.S. The firm will entertain professionals with expertise in a variety of project types so long as there is an appreciation for the cohesive, holistic design approach that is integral to the firm’s culture.

The preferred candidate will be a project manager and leader for the Reno office, capable of advising, guiding and collaborating with clients, consultants and internal staff. This role requires balanced focused on exceptional design talent for high-end projects, as well as strict adherence to process, budget and schedule controls. Candidates must have strong management, client relations and organizational capabilities, and have proven experience meeting deadlines and multi-tasking across large-scale and/or multiple projects.

Involvement with firm marketing / business development activities is expected, and the ideal candidate will bring an established network of vendors and industry contacts to the table. The individual must also be willing to travel nationally / internationally and bring refined presentation skills.

The individual will answer directly to WORTHGROUP’S CEO based in Denver, Colorado. The candidate will be capable of office/project staffing, managing deadlines, creating opportunities for mentorship and training within the studio, and providing expertise on projects that blend hospitality, entertainment and mixed-use design excellence. Additional direct interaction with other senior managers and partners is expected.

A Bachelor’s/ Master’s Degree from an accredited Architecture program is required; AIA, NCARB, Leed ap ID+C accredited professionals will be given preference. A minimum of 10+ years experience and solid technology proficiency including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Microsoft Office, InDesign, Photoshop and other industry-specific software expertise is a plus.

Specific responsibilities include:

Support the firm’s strategic mission and tactical implementation.

- Help create and lead a positive, professional and pioneering work environment.
- Contribute to and lead all project types.
- Mentor junior staff and delegate authority to promote efficiency and professional advancement for others.
- Oversee architectural and production teams to ensure projects are completed within budget and schedule, and meet Worthgroup standards.
- Develop construction document and drawings of exceptional quality, content, standards, with all deliverables complete, accurate, technically correct, constructible, visually appealing, RFI-avert and free of errors and omissions.
- Capable of addressing any issues or problems that do arise with a proactive, improvement-centric approach.
- Coordinate architectural information with other WORTHGROUP offices/studios, consultants and owner representatives.
- Collaborate with the Business Development team to lead proposals and project outcomes for advanced level projects; this includes speaking engagements, participation at regional conferences; contributions to multiple articles/features. It is critical that the candidate support efforts in Worthgroup’s core markets as well as its diversification aims.
- Monitor and maintain billings, staffing, contracts, job cost reports, payments, consultants, client relations and technical progress for each project in the office.
- Learn, implement and continuously work to improve Worthgroup standards. Train new professional staff regarding standards as necessary. Offer input regarding standard/guideline improvements.
- Conduct peer review of project drawing sets for graphics, standard, code, content and other standards.
- Manage Construction Administration efforts.
