Design Architect
15/07/2015Howard Laks Architects, (HLA) is an awarding winning architectural firm located in Santa Monica, California and specializing in Multi-Family, Mixed-Use, Hotel and Commercial Retail Design. We are seeking a Project Designer to take leadership in design concept and generate concept sketches into reality.
The ideal candidate must have excellent communications skills. The successful applicant must have the ability to express oneself clearly both verbally and in writing to communicate ideas in presentations to firm leadership, team members and clients. Must have strong architectural concept ability, planning and presentation skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree or Masters in Architecture.
- Minimum 5 years experience in a design-oriented Architectural Firm.
- Proficient in ACAD 2015.
- Proficient in Sketch Up, Rhino, 3D studio, Illustrator, Maxwell Render, Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Strong ability to execute and support concept design quickly and efficiently.
- Strong planning and presentation skills.
- Ability to complete a full set of documents from conceptual phase thru construction document phase.
- Technical knowledge of construction Type 1, III, and V.
- Knowledge of Municipal Codes; (Santa Monica, Los Angeles) including CBC 2013).
Licensure and leed accreditation is strongly preferred but not required.

We are looking for an architect/ assistant and year out student to join our office to help out on a number of projects.
If you are interested you should have knowledge of Microstation (but we can offer training), be able to work efficiently in all levels of the architectural field from planning to construction drawings.
We are looking for a person who can commit to long term employment in our friendly office working on various projects preparing 2D and 3D drawings, from concept to details, and looking after projects on site.
