- Must have strong design skills and be proficient in the use of AutoCAD. Experience of Revit is also beneficial.
- UK / EU planning and construction experience is essential.

Steinberg is an international award-winning architecture, urban planning, and interior design firm with offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Jose and Shanghai, China. Steinberg’s San Jose, California office is seeking a talented Intermediate Designer with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in residential, civic and educational projects.
Candidate must have the ability to develop concepts led by the Principal/Senior Designer, have excellent verbal and graphic communication skills, and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
Intermediate Designer role:
- Produce presentation graphics, feasibility studies, schematic designs, documents, working drawings and details.
- Develop lists and layout of construction document sets and list of required specification sections and basic materials under supervision.
- Other responsibilities include: programming, conducting field surveys, product research, and producing base drawings. Under general direction, interface with consultants and external resources.
Qualifications:
- Solid manual and computer visualization skills and be able to develop functional plans, elevations and sections from programmatic or prototype information.
- Understands structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Experience in schematic design, design development, construction documentation, construction administration and review.
- Understandings the composition requirements of working drawings.
- Degree in Architecture required. An advanced degree in Architecture is preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Outstanding graphic presentation skills.
- Experience interfacing and working with consultants a plus.
- Strong aptitude to learn new software modeling and animation programs.
The successful candidate will need to be able to interpret programmatic drawings or prototype images into 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit or Rhino for modeling and SketchUp as a rendering platform to develop functional and illustrative plans, elevations and sections. Experience in physical model making and operation of laser cutters and 3D printers is also desired.
