Parallax is an architectural design and planning firm located in Culver City specializing in private school, college and university buildings. Our office is a collaborative studio environment committed to creating distinctive high performance buildings. We are seeking an Intermediate Designer to join our team of talented, research-oriented people who love architecture and the craftsmanship that goes with it. This position provides an opportunity to work in all phases of a project and progress into a senior level position within the firm. Excellent English speaking and writing ability is required.
Specific responsibilities:
- Develop the architectural content of design and construction documents under the direction of the Project Architect.
- Provide limited coordination of architectural design and construction documents with engineering consultants for smaller buildings.
- Assistance at presentation and consultant coordination meetings.
- Provide self-directed CADD input and checking as required.
- Review shop drawings under supervision of Project Architect.
- Build physical models of project components as necessary.
Qualifications:
- B-Arch from a U.S. College or University.
- Excellent drawing skills in AutoCAD (2D and 3D).
- Minimum 3 years of experience producing architectural design and construction documents.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and speaking skills
Motivated, self-starter.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
- Must be authorized to work in the US without need for employee sponsorship.
- Three references minimum.

Established by Emily Abruzzo and Gerald Bodziak, the firm’s work is defined by intellectual rigor and creativity, as the team’s extensive experience in construction and making informs each project’s execution. Current work includes civic, residential, and cultural projects in the urban environment.
Abruzzo Bodziak Architects is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Junior Architect. This person will be responsible for presentation quality work and technical development of projects through completion, working closely with the partners, office staff, and interfacing with consultants. Work will be on a range of projects at different scales. The ideal candidate for this position is highly-motivated and possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of professional experience in an architecture firm, with technical design responsibilities.
- Master's Degree in Architecture, or undergraduate architecture degree with office experience.
- Exceptional critical thinking ability.
- Ability to meet aggressive deadlines while maintaining highest quality of work.
- Proven organizational abilities and consistent attention to detail.
- Knowledge of project processes related to coordination, workflow, project approvals, construction detailing, materials, methods, and codes.
- Exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience with the production and organization of drawing sets from SD to CD.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- All legal permits and visas required to work in the USA.
- Proficient in CAD, Rhino, Adobe Software, and Microsoft Office.
