Ballard Mensua Architecture is an award winning residential architecture firm. We won Best of Arlington 2016, Best of Houzz and have been growing each year. We are searching for two new members of our team to help out with boards full of an exciting mix of residential projects. We are looking for an Architect that can help with the design development and construction documents of large renovation projects and custom homes located in the Washington DC metro area and the surrounding mountains and the chesapeake. Knowledge of historic preservation is a plus and understanding of detailing interiors, structure, millwork, tile work is important. We believe that the devil is in the details and we still manage the construction of our projects, so to do so we have to have a team that truly understands the details. We are also starting to get into development of our own projects, including a 100 villa project in Uvita, Costa Rica. We currently have 5 full time, but one employee is retiring, so we need to replace him. We have 4 other part time consultants. Our office is in the City of Falls Church. We welcome working mothers and while our regular hours are 9:30 --6:30, could discuss other options depending on the experience of the candidate. Salary $60,000 - $80,000 depending on ability. 3 weeks. We are also looking for interns who are about ready to do their exams -- so at least 3-5 years of good experience with a residential custom architecture firm. Again, construction document experience is a must as we do such highly detailed drawings. We can teach what you don't know, but we do need someone with residential experience. Autocad Architecture must be fluent. Revit a plus. Sketch up a plus. Free hand sketching ability important. Command of English written language is a must as we communicate a lot with clients via email and project managemnet will be one of your responsibilities. Construction oversight experience is a plus. We are now doing all of our projects in 3-d inteiror and exteriors in color and detail, so 3-d ability is important, but not a requirement as existing staff all can do 3-d.

Autocad Architecture 2016; Revit a plus; sketch up a plus; free hand sketching ability; microsoft word, excel; good command of written english language. 5 years of experience in a residential custom architecture firm.

Serves as Senior Interior Architectural Designer responsible to and under the direction of the Design Principal.

Responsibilities:

The Project Architectural Designer oversees all aspects of the design, coordination and documentation of the project. He / She defines the program requirements based on client scope and develops the schematic design, prepares the interior architectural documentation and consistently communicates with the client and project consultants. He / She works closely with the Project FF&E Designer to maintain the integrity of design and assure all finishes are properly and clearly documented. He / She reviews construction documentation through the implementation of design to ensure clarity and quality of concept is maintained through detail level.

Requirements and qualifications:

- Minimum of 15+ years experience in 5 Star Hospitality & Gaming Design Projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Planning, Architecture or related experience.
- Must be passionate about all aspects of design.
- Computer skills including: AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, SketchUp.
- Must be a team player with an acute attention to detail.
- Ability to multi-task and service multiple projects at once.
- Ability to work with international clients.
