Responsibilities:

- Establish interior project design goals and clearly communicate concepts to office leadership and project teams.
- Conceptualize and create space programming and interior project strategies.
- Attend and actively participate in client meetings to lead presentations of interior design concepts.
- Select materials, colors, fixtures and furniture and prepare presentation materials.
- Responsible for all aspects of interior project design including hand sketching rendering, construction documentation, consultant coordination, construction administration and shop drawings.
- Partner with Principal to lead interior design presentations and proactively provide alternate interior design concepts to clients.
- Develop, create and clearly communicate interior design goals with Principals and project teams.
- Identify interior design challenges that could impact project profitability or execution.
- Assist in the development of project proposals.
- Collaborate with leadership in the creation of the firm’s interior design standards, vendor and materials library.
- Develop schematic design, design development, construction documents for Interior projects.
- Provide design concepts for different project types (Creative office, Hospitality, Multi-family residential (apartments and condominiums)).

Requirements:

- Bachelor Degree in Interior Design.
- NCIDQ Registered.
- 7+ years of relevant interior design experience in Architecture/Design industry.
- 3+ years of project lead responsibility.
- Ability to develop initial design concepts, and establish interior project goals.
- Experience interfacing with clients, vendors, and consultant.
- Experience recommending and selecting materials, finishes and systems.
- Experience with interior space planning and furniture layouts.
- Understanding of construction methods in Interior Architecture.
- Strong interest in research-based and theoretical design concepts.
- Advanced graphic, 3D visualization and computer drafting skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience working within the architectural and interior design process.
- Solid understanding of team members' roles, responsibilities, perspectives, and information needs.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, InDesign & Photoshop.
- Proficient in Autocad, Revit, Sketchup, any rendering software.

James Wagman Architect, an award-winning New York City architecture firm, is seeking a talented, motivated architect with 1-3 years of professional experience to work with us on a full-time permanent basis. The work will consist of design and detailing of high end residential homes. An interest and knowledge of green building practices, sustainability, and Passive House standards is a plus.

The candidate should have the following qualifications:

- Experience in detailing ground-up residential-single family new construction and/or high end residential apartments/ town homes.
- Experience organizing & assembling construction documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively with consultants, clients, and contractors; experience coordinating work of consulting engineers.
- Strong communication, organizational and collaborative skills.
- General knowledge of building materials, construction techniques, etc.
- Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced and rigorous environment.
