The Software Town Baisha Cluster, an expansive addition to the city that will primarily accommodate research facilities for new technologies, is being built to the east of Zhengzhou's city center. The Baisha Cluster comprises three islands grouped around a central lake. After successfully participating in the urban-planning competition, gmp was commissioned to plan the central administration building that marks the center of the overall complex. Three towers are erected on a floating podium that allows the lake landscape to deeply penetrate the district. The towers are composed of simple cubes of similar dimensions. The podium's roof terrace projects out over the small-scale shoreline buildings, thus providing an open view of the water and the overall cluster.
